➤ Dr. Dharmambal Government Polytechnic College for Women was selected by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, during the year 1995. Then 2015 it was undertaken by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship for implementing the Community Development through Polytechnic for Women, School dropouts, physically handicapped, economically weaker sections of the society.
Objectives of the Scheme

Need Assessment Survey
➤ To identify the felt needs in the rural areas for the purpose of forward plan. Survey Assessment from five Centres. They are Kovilampakkam, Thirunilai, Puzhuthivakkam, Santhoshpuram and T. Nagar.

➤ To extend technical services in rural areas we have provided Technical Service in Sewing Machine for all extension centres.
Awareness Programs
➤ Awareness among the target group about technological advancement and contemporary issues of importance we put flex board in each extension centre, distribute A4 size notice given, published news through various newspaper like Dhinakaran, Dhinathanthi, Dhinamani, Puthiya Thalaimurai Kalvi, Down Town – Hindu, Aval Vigadan, Kumudham, Snehidi, Mangaiyar Malar, Ladies Special leading Tamil Magazines and also conducted Medical Camp.
➤ Our Polytechnic has been identified as one of the Community Polytechnics from 1995-96 by MHRD for developing rural and under priveledged areas with main focus to Women and environment.
