Space exploration whether manned or unmanned missile guidance, communication, environmental control, industrial research automatic petro-chemical and similar complex manufacturing and processing systems, bio-medical studies all of these and many other triumphs of applied science would be impossible without sensitive and responsible instruments which provide the means for scientific measurement control and information storage and retrieval. This rapidly growing and increasingly important branch of applied science is broadly termed as instrumentation.

Highly skilled instrumentation technician must be capable of working closely with Instrumentation Engineers and Scientists and also must have capability to supervise and co-ordinate the efforts of skilled Craftsmen and Instrument Maintenance personnel. These capabilities allow technicians to be effective members of the scientific team whose work is to plan, assemble, install, calibrate, evaluate and operate instruments as they apply to processes of systems.

Duration of the course is three years. The first year is common with all other Engineering disciplines. The in-depth study of the Instrumentation subjects are taught in the Second and third year comprising of two semesters each.

Job Opportunities:

The students of the Instrumentation and Control Engineering Course have employment prospects both in State Government, Central Government Departments and in Private Establishments. They work as Junior Instrumentation Engineers /Supervisors/Draughtsmen, Calibrator, Instrument Mechanic, Lab Assistant etc., and have the capability to supervise and Co-ordinate the efforts of skilled Craftsmen and Instrument Maintenance Men.
