Scarcely does a day go by without reference being made to Computers and their applications. Computers have become common place in all spheres of activity. A few years ago, the high cost of computers was a limiting factor against the introduction of computers. However with the advent of the Electronic marvel, the microprocessor, the full potential of Computers can be made available at extremely low cost. The new applications will almost touch every aspect of human life like industrial Automation, Office Automation, Science and Engineering, Military, Care, News, space etc.

Hence it is essential that Computers are widely understood and their Capabilities and limitations are appreciated by large number of people. Hence it is vital to set up laboratory facilities in the area of computer science, to enable the technicians to get training in this area. With this in mind a Diploma Course in Computer Engineering was started in this Polytechnic in the academic year 1988-89 which holds high prospects for employment in the future.

The duration of the Course is three Years. The first year is common with other Engineering Disciplines.
