Diploma in Commercial Practice was renamed as Diploma in Modern Office Practice with effect from June 2002.

For the improvement and progress of the industry, the administrative side and accounting side are equally important as that of the technical skill. Hence with the industrial development in our State, employment opportunities for Women with Diploma in Modern Office Practice are many. Diploma holders in Modern Office Practice are eligible to join the Second Year B.Com. Degree. The Diploma is prescribed as an alternative qualification to a Degree for appointment by direct recruitment as Junior Assistants in the Tamil Nadu Secretariat service and as Assistants in the Board of Revenue in the Tamil Nadu Ministerial Service (G.O. Ms.1339 dated 17-7-1980).
